The Stray Who Become A Star- A year ago this terrier named Bobby was just another
The Stray Who Become A Star- A year ago this terrier named Bobby was just another down-and-out dog. But now hes living the good life. And hes going to be a TV star. Bobby used to be a starving stray. He lived under an abandoned car in a country lane and his coat was covered in oil. Then he was discovered by housewife Brenda Berryman. She took him home, gave him a bath, treated him well and had him groomed. At a dog training school, Bobby learned how he was expected to behave. And at an audition, he was chosen from a line-up of thirteen dogs to appear in a series of TV commercials. Bobby is to star as pet of a bunch of youngsters, advertising a brand of sweets. Bobby will be paid £ 10 a day during filming. And on Sunday, the dog whose meals used to come from dustbins munched a chocolate on the comfortable settee at Mrs. Berrymans home in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. And his owner said hopes that TV is just a start. " We hope that one day he ll be in the plays and films." she said. May 1973 P006028

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Stray Who Became a Star - A year ago, this heartwarming photo captures the incredible transformation of Bobby, a once downtrodden terrier who has now found fame and fortune. In the past, Bobby was just another forgotten stray, surviving on scraps and sheltering under an abandoned car in a desolate country lane. His coat was matted with oil and his future seemed bleak. But fate had other plans for Bobby when he caught the attention of compassionate housewife Brenda Berryman. She took him into her home, showing him love and care that he had never experienced before. With regular baths and grooming sessions, Bobby's appearance began to shine. Brenda didn't stop there; she enrolled him in a dog training school where he learned proper behavior and manners fit for stardom. And it paid off! At an audition among thirteen talented dogs, Bobby stood out from the pack and secured a role as the beloved pet in a series of TV commercials. Now living comfortably in Dunstable, Bedfordshire with Brenda by his side, Bobby enjoys all the perks of being a star-in-the-making. He even indulges in chocolates while lounging on his plush settee! The future looks bright for this remarkable canine actor as Brenda dreams big for him – hoping that one day he'll grace both stage plays and silver screens alike. This photograph serves as a reminder that sometimes life can take unexpected turns leading us from despair to triumph.
