This poignant document is a Certificate of Discharge for William Nutbean, a Fireman/Stoker on the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic. The original certificate was lost when the luxury liner sank on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg. This replacement document, bearing Nutbean's signature and the seal of the White Star Line, was issued in the aftermath of the tragedy.
