This image was adapted by Henry Hamilton from the French original by Albert Van Loo and Georges Duval, created for the Theatre des Bouffes Parisiens in Paris on the 10th of December 1898. The music for this enchanting production was composed by Andre Messager, and the piece was first produced at the Apollo Theatre in 1904. As part of the George Dances Co. tour, Veronique made her way to the Theatre Royal in Colchester on the 23rd of November 1905.
