The image is based on a Jacques Barraband illustration, originally published in Francois Levaillant's Histoire naturelle des oiseaux de paradis in 1801. Barraband, a skilled artist, expertly captured the intricate details of this magnificent bird's feathers, which shimmer with iridescent hues of green, blue, and purple. The Superb Bird-of-Paradise is native to New Guinea and certain islands in the Bismarck Archipelago.
