The Reverend, who is best known as the father of Scouting, captured the essence of this beautiful Victorian-era church with its intricate stonework and picturesque setting. The church, which dates back to the 13th century, is a prominent landmark in the village of Castle Frome. Its name, St Michael and All Angels, reflects the Christian belief in the presence of the Archangel Michael and all the angels in the presence of God. The church's Gothic architecture is a testament to the rich history and tradition of the region. Reverend Baden Powell, who was born in 1796, was a prolific artist as well as a clergyman. His sketches and watercolors, which often depicted religious sites and landscapes, were widely admired during his time.
