Prospect Cottage (on the left) in Rottingdean, East Sussex owned by Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) - a high profile member of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood of artists prominent in the 1870s. In 1889, Burne-Jones also acquired the cottage next door (the lower central building in this shot), knocking the two together to make North End House. His studio was in this part, behind the row of windows on the first floor. Date: circa 1910

This evocative photograph captures Prospect Cottage in Rottingdean, East Sussex, a charming residence once owned by the renowned Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898). The cottage, located on the left side of the image, was just one of two properties Burne-Jones acquired in 1889. The lower central building in the shot was also part of his estate, which he subsequently joined to Prospect Cottage, creating North End House. Sir Edward Burne-Jones was a prominent figure in the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, an influential art movement that emerged in the 1870s.
