EDITORS COMMENTS
Fleet 80 Canuck CF-EOH (msn 206) of Central Airways: A Blast from the Past This photograph showcases the sleek and stylish Fleet 80 Canuck CF-EOH (msn 206) of Central Airways, a Canadian-built aircraft that graced the skies during the 1950s and 1960s. The Canuck, a twin-engine, piston-powered aircraft, was a popular choice for private and corporate aviation due to its versatility, reliability, and distinctive appearance. The Fleet 80 Canuck, manufactured by Canadian Car and Foundry (CCF) in Fort Erie, Ontario, was a significant contribution to Canadian aviation history. Its distinctive design, featuring a high-wing configuration and large tail fin, made it easily recognizable in the skies. The aircraft was powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp engines, capable of producing 650 horsepower each. The CF-EOH in this photograph, registered to Central Airways, was likely used for various purposes, such as executive transport, air charter, or even personal use. Central Airways, based in Montreal, Quebec, was a leading Canadian aviation company that operated a fleet of aircraft, including the Canuck, to serve the needs of its diverse clientele. This photograph transports us back in time, offering a glimpse into the golden age of aviation. The era of piston-powered aircraft, with their distinctive sounds and graceful flight patterns, has long since given way to more modern jet-powered aircraft. Yet, the memory of these magnificent machines lives on, as evidenced by the enduring appeal of photographs like this one.
