Dating back to the pre-Great Fire era, this old, predominantly wooden structure held significant historical and architectural importance. The Old Temple Bar was the last remnant of the medieval London Bridge, which was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666. Before the fire, the structure was a popular gathering place for travelers and locals alike. Its intricate wooden design, with carved decorations and ornate details, was a testament to the craftsmanship and artistry of the time. The Old Temple Bar was also home to several small shops and businesses, but its primary role was as a gateway to the city, marking the boundary between the ancient City of London and the rural areas beyond.
