EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative black-and-white photograph, two exquisite sketches of tailor-made outfits by the renowned French couturier Hemjic take center stage. The image, captured on the picturesque Promenade des Anglais in Nice during the roaring twenties, transports us back to an era of grandeur and sophistication. The first sketch showcases a chic day dress, featuring a high-waisted silhouette, a fitted bodice, and a full, pleated skirt that gracefully cascades to the ground. The design is adorned with intricate beadwork and delicate lace, adding an air of elegance and allure. The second sketch reveals an equally stunning evening gown, characterized by its sleek, form-fitting silhouette and a dazzling, sequined bodice that shimmers under the French Riviera sun. The gown's full, flowing skirt is accentuated by a dramatic train, making it a true showstopper. Hemjic, a master of Parisian haute couture, was known for his innovative designs that embodied the spirit of the Jazz Age. His creations graced the bodies of the era's most influential women, including socialites, celebrities, and royalty. This photograph, taken in 1925, is a testament to Hemjic's unparalleled talent and the enduring allure of the fashion of the 1920s. The sketches, with their delicate lines and meticulous detailing, offer a glimpse into the creative process of one of France's greatest grand couturiers, making this image a must-have for any fashion or history enthusiast.
