EDITORS COMMENTS
Marilyn Miller: A Radiant Star of Broadway's Golden Age (1930) Marilyn Miller, born on December 1, 1898, was an American dancer, singer, and actress who graced the stages of Broadway with her captivating presence during the 1920s and early 1930s. Miller's extraordinary talent and magnetic stage presence made her one of the most popular and beloved stars of the era. In this stunning photograph, taken in 1930, Marilyn Miller exudes elegance and grace as she poses in a sumptuous dressing room. Dressed in a flowing, off-the-shoulder gown adorned with intricate beading, Miller's radiant smile and twinkling eyes capture the essence of her charisma. Her delicate ballet slippers, peeking out from beneath the hem of her gown, serve as a reminder of her exceptional dance skills. Miller's career began in vaudeville and burlesque before she transitioned to Broadway, where she made her debut in the chorus line of "Ziegfeld Follies" in 1917. She quickly rose to fame, starring in numerous productions, including "Lido Lady," "Sunny," and "Whoopee!" Her unique blend of singing, dancing, and acting abilities made her an unforgettable performer. Sadly, Miller's life was cut short when she passed away on October 2, 1936, at the young age of 37. However, her legacy continues to inspire and captivate audiences, making her an enduring icon of the Jazz Age and Broadway's Golden Age.
