Born in Toulouse, France, Duranti studied law at the University of Orleans and later at the University of Toulouse. He became a professor of civil law at the University of Toulouse in 1560, and in 1568, he was appointed as a magistrate at the Parlement of Toulouse. One of Duranti's most notable works is his commentary on the Institutes of Justinian, a foundational text in Roman law. His commentary, titled "Commentarii ad Institutiones," was published in 1574 and was widely used in European universities for centuries. Duranti's commentary is known for its clarity, depth, and accessibility, making complex legal concepts more understandable for students and practitioners. Duranti's influence extended beyond the realm of academia. He served as an advisor to King Henry III of France and was involved in several diplomatic missions.
