The Election," a masterpiece by the renowned English artist William Hogarth, captures the political turmoil and passion of the 1752 general election in this stunning print. The scene is set in the bustling streets of London, where two Whig candidates, dressed in fine attire and surrounded by their supporters, are hosting a grand banquet to celebrate their impending victory. The candidates, seated at a long table laden with sumptuous food and drink, exchange jovial glances as they raise their glasses in a toast to their success.
