EDITORS COMMENTS
A Corner of Burin Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador (circa 1910s): A captivating image of a quiet and picturesque scene from the past, this photograph captures the essence of the historic fishing village of Burin, Newfoundland and Labrador. The wooden walkway, worn and weathered by the salty sea air, leads the eye towards the bustling harbor, where colorful boats are moored, their sails neatly folded and secured. The harbor, dotted with wooden structures, is a testament to the resilient spirit of the community, which has thrived on the bountiful waters of the North Atlantic for generations. The rugged coastline of Burin Peninsula, with its dramatic cliffs and rocky shores, forms a stunning backdrop to the scene. The clear, blue-green waters reflect the vibrant colors of the boats and the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of tranquility and serenity. The sky overhead is a brilliant expanse of blue, with a few puffy clouds scattered about, adding a touch of softness to the otherwise rugged and untamed landscape. This photograph offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us to a time when life was simpler, and the connection to the sea was a way of life. The people of Burin, known for their hardiness and resourcefulness, continue to honor their rich maritime heritage, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a true taste of Newfoundland and Labrador's unique culture and history.
