Located on the European side of the Bosphorus Strait, the palace stands proudly amidst lush greenery and tranquil waters. The Palace of the Ambassador of France at Therapia, also known as the French Embassy or the Château de la Mer, was built between 1871 and 1873 for the French Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Designed by the renowned French architect Félix Duban, the palace is a masterpiece of late 19th-century European architecture. Its elegant neoclassical style, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman architecture, is evident in the grand columns, intricate friezes, and meticulously manicured gardens. The Palace of the Ambassador of France at Therapia served as the official residence of the French Ambassador until 1924.
