EDITORS COMMENTS
This collection of 15th century costume prints showcases the grandeur and intricacy of fashion during this era. The first image features Jean de Linden, born in 1394, dressed in a formal attire with a richly decorated robe and a tall, conical hat. Next, we have an unidentified Duke of Baviere, donning a regal outfit complete with a fur-lined cloak and an ornate headdress. Albert III, Achilles of Brandebourg, the third print, depicts the Elector wearing an Electors cap adorned with a cross and a velvet mantle. Ludwig von Hutten, born in 1414, is seen in the fifth print wearing a simple, yet elegant, tunic and hose, while Martin von Seinsheim, born in 1434, is dressed in a half-armor suit, which was a popular choice for knights during this period. The seventh print showcases Knight d'Arnstadt, wearing a cap that was worn under the pelvis, adding an unusual touch to his otherwise standard wartime attire. The eighth and ninth prints display knights in full armor, ready for battle, with the ninth knight carrying a standard, a symbol of his allegiance. The last two prints depict a tournament scene, where knights engage in a friendly fight using blunted swords, showcasing their skill and prowess in a more controlled environment. These stunning prints offer a glimpse into the rich and diverse world of 15th century fashion and the various styles and influences that shaped it.
