It depicts Elizabeth Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, a prominent figure in British history during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Born as Elizabeth Christiana Hervey, she was initially known as Lady Elizabeth Foster and shared a close friendship with Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.
