EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the picturesque Cote d'Azur in 1912. The artist, Gunnar Widforss, skillfully captures the rugged beauty of this coastal landscape with his graphite and watercolor technique. The scene unfolds on a rocky beach, where sharp cliffs meet the sparkling blue sea. A set of steps carved into the rocks leads up to a quaint town perched on top of the hillside. The coastline stretches out before us, revealing a bay that is both serene and dramatic. Widforss's attention to detail brings this maritime painting to life. Every brushstroke showcases the vibrant green hues of the surrounding vegetation against the contrasting blues and grays of sky and sea. The atmosphere feels crisp and invigorating as we imagine ourselves standing on those very shores. This artwork not only captures a moment frozen in time but also evokes a sense of nostalgia for an era long gone by. It reminds us of the timeless allure that has drawn countless visitors to this enchanting corner of France – known as the French Riviera – throughout history. As we gaze upon this stunning piece, we can't help but be transported to another world – one filled with natural wonders, charming towns, and breathtaking coastlines. It serves as a reminder that even amidst our modern lives, there are still places where nature's beauty remains untouched by time.
