In the early stages of the 2012-13 Premier League season, this match was a crucial test for Everton as they looked to establish themselves as a top-tier team once again. The atmosphere was electric at Villa Park as both sides battled for supremacy. Everton, under the management of David Moyes, were determined to start the season strongly, while Aston Villa, under the guidance of Paul Lambert, were eager to prove their worth in the top flight.
