The English Football League XI faced off against their Scottish counterparts at Villa Park on November 7th, 1928. Amongst the players immortalized in this image is none other than John Thomson, a remarkable goalkeeper who would tragically meet his untimely fate just a few years later. As we gaze upon this snapshot frozen in time, it becomes evident that Thomson possessed an air of confidence and determination.
