In this photograph, Arsenal's Swiss international defender, Philippe Senderos, is seen in action during a thrilling FA Premier Reserve League South match against Portsmouth Reserves at Underhill Stadium in Barnet on September 21,2005. The previous season had seen Arsenal's first team secure the Premier League title with an unbeaten record, and the reserves were determined to follow in their footsteps. Senderos, who had joined Arsenal from Swiss side Grasshoppers in 2003, was a key figure in the Arsenal reserves' defense. Dressed in the iconic red and white stripes, he exudes a sense of focus and determination as he prepares to head the ball away from a Portsmouth attacker. The intensity of the game is palpable, with both teams giving their all on the pitch. The FA Premier Reserve League South provided valuable experience for young players and was an important stepping stone for those looking to make the transition from the reserves to the first team.
