American actor John Wayne working on his first London based film called Brannigan which was shot at Shepperton Studios in Middlesex.
In this scene Wayne, in his role as a tough Chicago Police Lieutenant, staged a pub fight at The Blue Boar with Richard Attenborough who plays Commander Sir Charles Swann in the film.
The fake fight, devised to con a member of the underworld into thinking Wayne is on his side, developed in to a free for all throughout the pub.

The Observer Trophy Single-handed Trans Atlantic Race. Yachtsmen leaving from Plymouth. Pictured, the wash almost swamping the passengers of an amphibious motor car, made its appearanace amongst the numerous sailing and motor boats following the competitors as they headed for the ocean. They are Richard Pilkington driving with his wife Patricia, behind him the two passengers are friends Anne Murray and Penny Swain who wave at crew of the tall ships as they sail away. 24th May 1964

Pele meets Pele. A two and a half year old from Shepherds Bush named Pele Jairzinho Johnson by his football mad father Tony Johnson, seen here meeting his namesake. Pele was in London with the rest of the Santos football team for a match against Fulham at Craven Cottage. 11th March 1973
