Pupils at St John School Golcar, are to be stars of the small screen
Pupils at St John School Golcar, are to be stars of the small screen. The school played host to a group of visitors from Huddersfields Russian twin town, Kustanai. The visitors are teachers in Russia and are studying schools and colleges in Huddersfield. As part of their study, the Russian teachers made a video of a typical day at St John. Head of computers at the Kustanai teacher training college Malik Baimukhamedov is pictured videoing the class as visitor Mansiya Samabetova looks on. The video will be shown to Russian students and it is hoped that children in Kustanai will have the chance to see it, including the penfriends of the St John pupils. 29th January 1991

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back to January 29th, 1991, where the pupils of St John School Golcar in Huddersfield had an extraordinary opportunity to become stars of the small screen. The school warmly welcomed a group of Russian teachers from their twin town, Kustanai, who were eager to study schools and colleges in Huddersfield. The visitors embarked on a mission to capture a typical day at St John School through video footage. In this particular snapshot, we witness Malik Baimukhamedov, the Head of computers at Kustanai teacher training college expertly filming one of the classes while visitor Mansiya Samabetova observes with interest. This heartwarming initiative aimed to showcase life inside St John School to Russian students back home. The hope was that children in Kustanai would have the chance to see this insightful video and even catch glimpses of their penfriends from across borders. As we delve into all our yesterdays through these remarkable prints from Memory Lane Prints, it is evident that moments like these transcend time and remind us how education can bridge cultures and foster lifelong connections between young minds around the world.
