Mr. Brian Jewell, is trying to revive an old custom in Tunbridge Wells

Mr. Brian Jewell, is trying to revive an old custom in Tunbridge Wells, the ancient art of pea pushing with the nose. This ancient custom came to light when a Mr. Hone discovered a piece of paper with the rules written on it and a number of wooden peas. Mr. Jewell would like to put Tunbridge Wells back on the map by reviving many old customs amongst them would be head-butting and shin-kicking, but he feels that perhaps the police would have something to say about this. EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back to May 1967 in Tunbridge Wells, where Mr. Brian Jewell is determined to revive a long-forgotten tradition. With a mischievous glint in his eye, Mr. Jewell endeavors to bring back the ancient art of pea pushing with the nose. This peculiar custom was unearthed by chance when Mr. Hone stumbled upon an old piece of paper containing its rules along with several wooden peas. Inspired by this discovery, Mr. Jewell aims to put Tunbridge Wells on the map once again by reviving not only pea pushing but also other forgotten customs like head-butting and shin-kicking - although he suspects that the local police might have something to say about those! The photograph captures three individuals from different generations engaging in this whimsical activity, their noses pressed against wooden peas as they compete for victory. The scene exudes humor and camaraderie as participants embrace their inner childlike curiosity. Through Memory Lane Prints' lens, we are reminded of the power of nostalgia and how it can inspire us to resurrect traditions that were once cherished within our communities. This image serves as a delightful reminder that sometimes all it takes is one person's passion and determination to breathe life into forgotten customs, bringing joy and laughter back into our lives for generations to come.
