This exquisite black and white portrait captures the moment of love and devotion between Viscount Lascelles, later the 7th Earl of Harewood, and Princess Mary, daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, at their wedding on 27 March 1922. The photograph was taken by renowned British photographer, Vandyk, in London. The young couple, both with bright, expectant smiles, are elegantly dressed in their wedding attire, with the groom wearing the uniform of the Royal Horse Guards and the bride wearing a beautiful white gown and veil. The background is simple, with the focus on the couple and their connection. The wedding took place at Westminster Abbey, in the presence of the King and Queen, and was a grand affair that was widely covered by the media. The couple went on to have a long and happy marriage, with five children, and played important roles in the British royal family. This portrait is a beautiful testament to their love and the beginning of their journey together.
