The Dove, a versatile British-designed aircraft, was first built as a DH.104 Dove 1 and delivered on November 16, 1949. The aircraft's history is rich and diverse. After its initial delivery, it was acquired by the Chilean Air Force (Fuerza Aerea de Chile) in 1954. Following its military service, it was purchased by Bankers Life & Casualty Company. Subsequently, it became a part of New World Airways Flight Research Inc. in Mojave, California, between July 19, 1982, and November 27, 1991. During its tenure at New World Airways, the DH.104 Dove underwent significant use in various research projects. However, its registration was eventually cancelled, and it was cannibalised for spare parts at Mojave Air and Space Port. The DH.104 Dove is an iconic aeroplane in the annals of aviation history.
