This exquisite hand-colored steel engraving depicts Corn Spurry, Spergula arvensis, also known as Spergule des champs in French. The botanical illustration was originally created by Edouard Maubert and later meticulously rendered in engraving by Alphonse-Leon Noel for the influential work "La Regne Vegetal: Planets Agricoles et Forestieres," published by Pierre Oscar Reveil, A. Dupuis, Fr. Gerard, and Francois Herincqs between 1864 and 1871. Corn Spurry is a common and widespread weed in Europe, North America, and Asia.
