He later became a fellow of the Royal Society, a prestigious scientific organization, and served as a physician to several prominent figures, including the Duke of Richmond and the Duke of Bedford. Shebbeare's literary pursuits began in earnest when he published his first work, "The History of the Plague in Marseilles," in 1720. This seminal work demonstrated his keen understanding of epidemiology and public health, making him a respected voice in the scientific community.
