Edouard Charles Victor, Duc de FitzJames (1776-1838), was a prominent French statesman and military officer, whose illustrious career spanned several decades and intersected with some of the most significant events in French history. Born into the noble FitzJames family, he entered the military at a young age and distinguished himself in various battles during the French Revolutionary Wars. In 1802, FitzJames was appointed as a member of the Council of State, a powerful advisory body to the Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. He served in this capacity until 1814, when the Bourbon monarchy was restored following Napoléon's abdication.
