Born a Grand Duchess in the German duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Alexandrine was the daughter of Grand Duke Frederick Francis II and Grand Duchess Anna of Russia. In 1898, she married the future King Christian X of Denmark, who ascended to the throne in 1912. Alexandrine's stunning appearance is accentuated in this image by her elegant attire and the intricate Greek key pattern necklace that adorns her neck.
