Born Emily Louise Langtry on February 27, 1853, in Jersey, Channel Islands, she rose to prominence as a leading actress and socialite, known for her beauty, charm, and talent. In this image, taken around 1890, Lily is depicted in the midst of a theatrical performance, her expressive face and animated gestures conveying the intensity and passion of her character.
