Born into the esteemed House of Habsburg, Archduke Franz Karl Joseph was the eldest son of Emperor Leopold II and his wife, Maria Anna of the Two Sicilies. The image, produced in 1878, captures the Archduke's regal presence with an intricately detailed engraving technique. The portrait is further enhanced by the application of vibrant colors, adding depth and richness to the depiction. Franz Karl Joseph is portrayed in the formal attire of the time, complete with a military uniform adorned with various orders and medals, reflecting his military prowess and high rank.
