He later joined the Capuchin order, taking the name Abraham a Sancta Clara, and was ordained a priest in 1671. Abraham a Sancta Clara's writings were marked by their clarity, depth, and humor, making him a popular figure in the intellectual circles of his time. His most famous work, "Sapientia Sancti Joseph," a commentary on the life of St. Joseph, is still read and admired today for its insight and elegance. He spent much of his life traveling throughout Austria and beyond, preaching, teaching, and offering spiritual guidance to those in need.
