Half-length portrait of Henry Boyle Lord Carleton by Jacobus Houbraken after Sir Godfrey Kneller. The sitter is depicted in a baroque cartouche. Three sacks of gold coins and a mace are represented below, a reference to his tenures as Lord of the Treasury and Chancellor of the Exchequer of England. Jacobus Houbraken was one of the most accomplished portrait engravers of the eighteenth century.
