EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the remarkable Axe found with the Oetzi Iceman, a truly extraordinary artifact from the Copper Age. Crafted from yew wood and adorned with leather binding, this ancient tool is approximately 60cm long. Housed in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, Italy, it holds immense historical significance. Considered to be the only completely preserved prehistoric axe in existence, this discovery offers invaluable insights into our distant past. Alongside its wooden structure, there is also a copper blade attached to it. The Axe was unearthed at an astonishing altitude of 3200 meters within the Tyrolean Alps, encased within an ice glacier that acted as a natural time capsule. The Oetzi Iceman himself was a mountaineer living during the 4th millennium BC and tragically met his demise due to an arrowhead wound on his left shoulder. This photograph captures not only the intricate details of this ancient weapon but also serves as a haunting reminder of its connection to human history. Photographer Wolfgang Neeb expertly captures every angle and nuance of this fascinating artifact through his lens. Through his skillful photography techniques, he brings forth both beauty and intrigue while preserving this significant piece for generations to come.
