The seals are carved from a single boulder with square section rising to a sloping upper surface. The top of one is carved in low
relief, dexterously utilising the skin of the stone, with a dragon gazing down on its young striding amongst lingzhi, echoing the pair of phoenix soaring amidst peonies on the other, both scenes positioned above a signature, Cangmen. The dragons seal is incised on one vertical side with a seven-character stanza followed by a signature, Lin Ji, dated 11th day of the ninth month of yihai cyclical year, corresponding to 1719, the seal face is carved in intaglio with an eight-character inscription, Huang liuzi Heshuo Gong qinwang, The sixth imperial son, The Peaceful and Eminent Prince Gong'. The phoenix seal is similarly incised on one vertical side with a five-character stanza followed by a signature, Ziwei Neishi, the seal face is carved with a four-character inscription, weiguo fanfu, (Guardian vassal of the state) in intaglio, flanked by a pair of chilong below a two-character inscription yuci, imperially bestowed, in relief. The seals, measuring 3.3x3.3x8.6 and 3.3x3.3x8.8 cm respectively, are carved from a single boulder with a square section rising to a sloping upper surface.
