Philippensis Jigsaw Puzzle Collection

Philippensis is a genus of viverrid mammals in the family Viverridae. These animals are found in Southeast Asia, specifically the Philippines, and are small to medium-sized carnivores that feed on insects, small vertebrates, and fruits. The most common species is the Philippine palm civet (Paradoxurus philippinensis), which has a dark brown fur with white spots and stripes. Other species include the Mindoro palm civet (Paradoxurus mindorensis) and Visayan palm civet (Paradoxurus meridionalis). All three species have similar body shapes but differ in size and coloration. They inhabit tropical forests, secondary forests, mangroves, agricultural lands, and urban areas throughout their range, and are solitary animals that spend most of their time on the ground or in trees searching for food or shelter from predators. As they are hunted for their meat and fur they have become threatened with extinction due to habitat destruction and overhunting. Conservation efforts must be taken to ensure their survival as part of our natural heritage.
