This stunning 19th century oil painting, titled "Mercury, Venus and Cupid," is a masterful recreation by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux after the original work by the Italian Baroque artist Antonio Allegri da Correggio, created between 1871 and 1873. The painting depicts three figures from Roman mythology: Mercury, the god of commerce, travel, and thieves; Venus, the goddess of love and beauty; and Cupid, the god of desire and amour.
