The European edible frog, scientifically known as Pelophylax esculentus, is a fascinating amphibian species found in various locations across Europe. In the serene surroundings of Lake Belau in June, one can spot this remarkable creature gracefully hopping about. Similarly, in Vosges, France during the same month, an edible frog camouflages itself amidst pond weed. Even urban parks provide a haven for these frogs; one such park boasts a picturesque scene with buildings in the distance and a charming pond where these creatures reside. During mating season at Klein Schietveld in Brasschaat, Belgium, male edible frogs can be heard calling from the surface of ponds to attract their mates. A close-up shot taken in Prypiat area, Belarus showcases the intricate details of this species' appearance - its vibrant colors and mesmerizing eyes are truly captivating. These adaptable creatures also thrive alongside other aquatic plants like Greater bladderwort (Utricularia), as seen when they swim past it effortlessly. Latorica backwater in Slovakia serves as another habitat for these frogs where they peacefully coexist with other wildlife. A closer look at their head reveals their unique features and expressive eyes that seem to hold secrets untold. This particular image was captured again in Prypiat area, Belarus during June 2009. Interestingly enough, there exists a hybrid between the Pool frog (Pelophylax lessonae) and common European frogs called Pelophylax kl. Esculentus. These hybrids add further diversity to our understanding of this species. Lastly, among duckweed-covered waters in the Netherlands or resting on logs immersed within Swiss water bodies during July – Edible Frogs continue to enchant us with their presence throughout Europe's diverse landscapes.
