Louis Philippe II, also known as the Duke of Orleans, was a prominent figure in French history. From his early days as a military officer at Sergent Recruteur to his involvement in politics and society at Palais Royal, Louis Philippe II left an indelible mark. In 1760, an artist named Carmontelle captured a youthful portrait when he held the title Duke of Chartres. This depiction showcases his elegance and charm that would later define him as one of France's most influential figures. As time went on, Louis Philippe II became more politically active and assumed the name "Philippe Egalite. " In a painting by Tocque from 1772, we see him portrayed with intensity and determination befitting his revolutionary ideals. Family was important to Louis Philippe II; this is evident in Edouard Cibot's painting from 1776 titled "The Family of Louis Philippe Joseph d Orleans at the Palais-Royal. " It depicts a harmonious scene where love and unity prevail among family members. However, not all moments were filled with joy for Louis Philippe II.
