Framed Print of Naval battle between the Waganda and the Wavuma

Africa. Naval battle between the Waganda and the Wavuma. Over the years, the kings of Uganda tried in vain to subdue the Wavuma, who refused to accept Christianity. King Mutesa resolved to subjugate the islands in 1875, causing a deterioration in relations between Buganda and Buvuma. At this time, Henry Morton Stanley was staying in Uganda during his expedition to the Congo River (1874-1877), describing the fighting force with which Mutesa attempted to conquer the Wavuma. Photogravure after an illustration by William Heysham Overend (1851-1898). "La conquista de Africa" (The conquest of Africa), by Alfredo Opisso. Volume III. Published in Barcelona (Spain) by Molinas y Maza editores, 1911. Universal Images Group (UIG) manages distribution for many leading specialist agencies worldwide.
