Visscher map of New Netherland with an illustration of New Amsterdam in the lower right corner. First published in 1650. Claes Janszoon Visscher (1587 - June 19, 1652) was a Dutch Golden Age draughtsman, engraver, mapmaker and publisher. Aside from bibles, Visscher primarily etched and published landscapes, portraits and maps.
