A deep water jellyfish. This species (Atorella cf octogonos) was described from materials collected at 500m depth off of the Bahamas in 1987. The medusa stage in this genus is apparently rarely observed. This specimen was collected by an ROV at 700m depth in the Gulf of Mexico, 2019.
