At the age of seventeen, Tessa Furnell is well on her way to achieving her ambition to he Britains first woman aero-engine designer. Tessa, a policemans daugher, marched into the works at a Watford, Herts, aero-engine factory before she left school and told the startled managing director she wanted a job as an engineer. Already she has raced thrcash the greater part of the five-year training. She in the only girl amid 130 men workers at the factory. Tessa has put all thoughts of boy friends and marriage aside. She will be a career woman only for the next eight years at least. Tessa Furnell, whose work has astounded aero engineers in the Watford factory where she is training to be an engineer.
