One of the few structures to be left standing in the Japanese city of Hiroshima following the dropping of the Little Boy atomic bomb on Monday 6th August 1945. The explosion killed an estimated 80, 000 people, by the end of the year, injury and radiation had killed a further estimated 70, 000 - 80, 000 people. The effect of the blast on this reinforced concrete building was to force the roof downwards partially collapsing the building.
