This diagrammatic illustration offers a unique perspective on this significant military campaign, which saw the French Crown's forces, led by Cardinal Richelieu, besieging the city of La Rochelle in an attempt to quell the Huguenot rebellion. La Rochelle, a major Huguenot stronghold on the Atlantic coast, had long defied the authority of the French Crown.
