Established in the early 20th century, the Cock Tavern holds a rich history, as evidenced by the trading record printed on the reverse of this photograph. According to the record, the pub was in operation as of 1934 and 1961, with the address listed as Cock Tavern, Somers Town, London NW1 1HB. Unfortunately, as of my visit in May 2017, the Cock Tavern had closed its doors and was covered in scaffolding. The pub, a beloved institution in the community, now stands empty, a testament to the ever-changing landscape of urban London. The Hoare and Company Limited, which operated the pub at the time, is not mentioned in this description to maintain the focus on the historical significance of the building itself.
