This print depicts a side view of a British Army Lancer in the proposed uniform and equipment for a new corps of lancers, charging forward with his horse in full gallop during the year 1813. The lancer, dressed in a blue jacket with gold and yellow facings, wears a shako hat adorned with a yellow plume and a blue and gold cockade. His green trousers are tucked into high boots, and he holds his lance under his right arm, while his sabre hangs at his side. His horse, also adorned with gold and yellow accents, moves swiftly forward, hooves off the ground, and its mane and tail streaming behind. The lancer's determined expression and the Corps' flag flying proudly in the wind add to the sense of movement and energy in the scene.
