Kate Ma Meyrick (1875 -1933), an Irish business woman and Queen of the London nightclub scene. She ran " 43", a late-night jazz club at 43 Gerrard Street in Soho, was prosecuted several times for breaching licensing laws and went to prison for bribing policemen to ignore these breaches.
