Born on March 24, 1814, in the picturesque town of Montbeliard, Frémy displayed an early aptitude for science. Frémy's most notable achievement came in 1834 when he discovered the compound now known as Frémy's salt, a complex inorganic compound of barium, sulfur, and iodine.
