Crimea, Ukraine Franklin D. Roosevelt (30 January 1882, New York - 12 April 1945, Warm Springs, USA) was a member of the US Democratic Party and the 32nd President of the USA. His presidency lasted from 1933 to 1945 and he is one of the most important presidents. He was confronted with many crises during his term of office. Domestically, the Great Depression threatened the standard of living of large sections of the American population. He successfully combated the crisis with the New Deal'. He also introduced social security and a minimum wage in the USA. In terms of foreign policy, his time in office was dominated by the Second World War. On 7 December 1941, the Japanese air force attacked the US Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and Italy and Germany declared war on the USA
